Hosting the EU-US talks with the agenda of 'Ukraine, Defense, Trade', Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni met with EU Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and US Vice President JD Vance at the Chigi Palace in Rome.

In the trilateral transatlantic talks, which Ursula von der Leyen highlighted as a possible "new beginning" in international relations between the two blocs, Vance described Europe as an "important ally", noting that "although the two sides of the Atlantic sometimes have disagreements, like friends do, especially in matters such as trade".

Von der Leyen stated, "We truly have the world's largest trade relationship, deeply intertwined with each other, amounting to more than 1.5 trillion dollars annually."

"Everyone knows the devil is in the details, but what unites us is the desire to reach a good agreement for both sides."

Beyond Ukraine, the latest topic on the agenda was defense.

The EU and the US have made it clear to the world that they are ready for a new beginning.
