Volkswagen is reportedly preparing for what could become the largest workforce reduction in the company's history.

The automaker currently employs approximately 657,000 people worldwide. According to reports, the company's management board is aiming to cut 100,000 jobs globally.

The reported figure is twice as high as previously estimated, marking a significant increase over earlier expectations.
