Medicana Acquires Berlin’s 300-Year-Old Jewish Hospital

Medicana has acquired the historic Jewish Hospital Berlin (Jüdisches Krankenhaus Berlin), one of the city’s long-established healthcare institutions, which had entered insolvency proceedings due to financial difficulties.

The sales agreement for the hospital was signed between the parties on Thursday. The completion of the transfer is now awaiting approval from the Berlin Senate’s Health Administration.

The new management announced that employees’ jobs would be protected and that healthcare services would continue without interruption.

The 380-bed hospital located in the Wedding district will preserve its historical and cultural identity, while healthcare services will be expanded and investments will be made in infrastructure, according to the statement.

Patient admissions and treatment services will continue uninterrupted throughout the transition process.

Headquartered in Istanbul, Medicana Health Group also operates hospitals in the United Kingdom and Bosnia and Herzegovina. The group runs 20 hospitals in Türkiye and has an extensive healthcare network.
