Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has dismissed Russia’s offer of a three-day ceasefire as “theatrical,” rejecting it outright and insisting instead on a longer-term ceasefire lasting one month. His demand aligns with a proposal presented by the United States, aiming to create a more meaningful and stable period of calm in the ongoing conflict.
Zelensky emphasized that short-term pauses do not address the broader humanitarian needs or security concerns of Ukraine, and urged for a more serious and sustained commitment to peace.
