US and China Reach Agreement

The United States reduced its tariff on Chinese products from 145% to 30% (for 90 days), while China reduced its tariff on American products from 125% to 10% (for 90 days).
The outcome of the trade negotiations held over the past two days in Geneva, Switzerland, between the US and China was welcomed globally.
US President Donald Trump had announced new tariffs on trade partners on April 2. Stating that over 75 countries had contacted the US to resolve trade issues, Trump declared that the mutually determined tariffs would be suspended for 90 days. However, he raised tariffs on China to 145% in response to Chinese countermeasures. In turn, the Chinese government imposed a 125% tariff on US goods.
