Forest fires that broke out in three districts of Bursa quickly spread due to strong winds, threatening residential areas. Thousands of citizens were evacuated from many villages and settlements in the region. Due to the rapidly spreading fires, the Ankara-Bursa highway, as well as main and secondary roads, were temporarily closed to traffic, and residential areas were cleared.

Outside of Bursa, fires that have been burning for days in Karabük, Kahramanmaraş, Antalya’s Gazipaşa and Serik districts, Silifke (Mersin), and Uşak have been brought under control.

Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloğlu announced that the fire between Bursa's Gürsu and Kestel districts was affecting an area of approximately 100–110 hectares.

Efforts to extinguish the forest fires are continuing intensively by air and land as daylight returns.
