Donald Trump stated, “We are starting negotiations for a ceasefire immediately. Conditions will be negotiated between both sides,” while Vladimir Putin said, “A ceasefire is possible if agreements are reached on concessions.”

Putin’s remarks indicate that the “ceasefire deadlock” hinges on territorial concessions from Ukraine.

Here are Putin’s key statements:

🔺️ “Russia is ready to work on a memorandum with Kyiv for future peace talks. Overall, we are on the right path — Russia and Ukraine must find mutually acceptable concessions. The root causes of the crisis must be addressed. A ceasefire is possible if an agreement is reached with Ukraine.”

After the call with Putin, Trump, who had previously mentioned the Vatican’s interest in hosting Russia-Ukraine talks, also held conversations with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and leaders of several NATO member states.
