  • Singapore has topped the ranking for the second consecutive time, offering visa-free access to 193 destinations.

  • Japan and South Korea share second place with 190 destinations.

While Asia claimed the top two spots, Europe made a difference by securing the highest positions in the latest global passport ranking with 28 countries in the top 10.

According to the Henley Passport Index, which ranks the world’s passports based on the number of destinations they allow visa-free access to—using exclusive data from the International Air Transport Association (IATA):

  • Seven EU countries (Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, and Spain) share third place globally with visa-free access to 189 destinations.

  • Seven European countries—Austria, Belgium, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, and Sweden—rank fourth with access to 188 destinations.

  • Greece, Switzerland, and New Zealand share fifth place.

  • The United Kingdom, which topped the index in 2015, dropped another spot to sixth place with visa-free access to 186 destinations.

  • The United States, which ranked first in 2014, fell to tenth place with access to 182 destinations—its lowest position in the index’s 20-year history.
