Tensions Escalate Between India and Pakistan

India carried out missile strikes on Pakistan and Pakistan-administered Kashmir.
Pakistan announced that six locations were attacked, and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif stated that five Indian jets were shot down.
India did not confirm that any jets were downed.
Pakistan reported that the air strikes along the Line of Control and accompanying fire resulted in 26 deaths and 46 injuries.
Meanwhile, the Indian military reported that at least 15 civilians were killed by artillery fire from Pakistan across the de facto border on its side.
India says the missile strikes were in response to last month’s deadly militant attack on Indian tourists in Pahalgam.
With this new escalation emerging before the end of the Russia–Ukraine war, the world is once again on edge.
