Russia is set to conduct the “Zapad 2025” exercise jointly with Belarus from September 12–16, involving coordinated land, air, and naval forces near NATO borders, prompting Europe to closely monitor developments.

Moscow insists the exercise poses no threat to any country. Meanwhile, Germany announced it will remain on alert against any potential threat to NATO territory during Belarus-hosted Zapad 2025.

German Chief of Defense, Carsten Breuer, stated that NATO and German forces will stay vigilant and ready for possible risks, adding:

"We have no evidence of any preparation for an attack as part of this exercise."

France’s Ministry of Health issued instructions to be prepared for war until March 2026. French media interpret this readiness as part of a “major engagement” scenario, with the goal of integrating the care of military casualties into the civilian healthcare system.

Western media outlets highlight that these maneuvers are events that must be closely monitored for European security.
