Duke of Sussex Prince Harry has expressed a desire to reconcile with the Royal Family, stating:"There's no point in continuing the fight. Life is too precious. I don’t know how much time my father (King Charles) has left, but he won’t speak to me because of this security issue. It would be good to make peace."
In 2020, Prince Harry and his wife Meghan Markle stepped down from royal duties and moved to the United States, citing issues with the Royal Family. As a result, their level of official police protection was reduced.
Harry had requested official security during visits to the UK, but the London Court of Appeal ruled that he does not have an automatic right to such protection.
Following the court’s decision, Harry made a public statement expressing his hope to reconcile with his family. He told the BBC that while he has forgiven the Royal Family, they have yet to forgive him for his 2023 memoir.
"There were many disagreements with some family members. I miss the UK. At the moment, it's impossible for me to bring my family there safely. I can’t imagine a world where I can take my wife and children to the UK. It saddens me that I might not be able to show my homeland to my kids."
