Portugal to Deport 18,000 Undocumented Migrants

Ahead of Snap Election Portugal’s interim government has announced plans to deport 18,000 foreign nationals living in the country without legal status or permits. In the first phase, 4,500 undocumented migrants will be asked to leave voluntarily within 20 days, with the remaining deportations to follow.

The announcement comes just weeks before the snap general election scheduled for May 18.
