Merz: "Germany Will Take Responsibility Again, Both in Europe and the World. Not Noisily, but Reliably. Not with Arrogance, but as a Partner."
Friedrich Merz, the leader of the Christian Democratic Union (CDU), who is set to become Germany's new Chancellor, drew Moscow's ire with this Easter message.
Moscow sarcastically responded to Merz, asking: "When you say 'again,' which period are you referring to?!"
Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova had previously stated that if Taurus missiles in the German army were to hit Russian targets, Germany would be considered involved in the war.
In Germany, a CDU/CSU-SPD coalition government under Merz's leadership is expected to be formed on May 6. Source: Independent Turkish, RT, DPA, AA
