The death of Armani, the symbol of modern Italian style, was announced by the group he devoted his life to with the following statement:
“With infinite sadness, we announce the passing of our creator, founder, and relentless driving force, Giorgio Armani.”
Armani, who took his last breath at the age of 91, inscribed his name in history as a figure who left an indelible mark on the fashion world.
With his simple yet striking designs, Armani became the embodiment of modern Italian elegance and also stood out for his business acumen. He built a fashion empire reaching an annual turnover of €2.3 billion.
Known in fashion circles as “Re Giorgio” (King Giorgio), Armani was famous for personally overseeing every detail—from his collections and advertising campaigns to the hairstyles of models on the runway. Every piece bearing his signature reflected his meticulousness and aesthetic vision.
Giorgio Armani was not only a clothing designer but also a cultural architect. By blending minimalist lines with sophisticated elegance, he created a turning point in fashion history.
His suits, especially favored by Hollywood stars on the red carpet, turned his designs into a global icon.
Through innovations in both men’s and women’s fashion, Armani rewrote classical rules. In particular, his 1980s power suit designs contributed to women in business projecting a stronger image. He was not just a designer but also a visionary.
Due to health issues, Armani was unable to attend the Milan Men’s Fashion Week in June 2025 for the first time.
A condolence room will be set up in Milan on Saturday and Sunday, while a private funeral service will be held in the coming days.
