Known as the “Land of Fire and Ice,” the Nordic island nation has become famous for its geothermal hot springs, glaciers, and waterfalls.
It’s also one of the best places in the world to witness the Northern Lights, and thanks to its endless daylight in summer, Iceland remains an attractive destination all year round.
Despite reports suggesting that its appeal was fading, Iceland welcomed 1.8 million international tourists in the first nine months of 2025. During the first eight months of the year, hotels and guesthouses recorded their highest-ever booking rates, while tourism revenues between 2023 and 2025 remained exceptionally strong.
Let’s end with one analyst’s poetic take on Iceland:
“It’s a unique experience I recommend to every traveler — staying awake on a northern summer night to watch the sun touch the ocean at the horizon, then change its mind and rise again without ever setting.”
