It was reported that there is a shortage of 80,000 workers in the restaurant and hotel sector, which makes up 25% of the country's economy.
As the tourism season approaches, restaurant and hotel owners in Greece are struggling to find employees. The reason is the "flexible" working conditions. Greeks prefer office jobs where they can work from 9 to 5 and avoid weekends or overtime.
To solve the problem, authorities, partly under pressure from local administrators, plan to legalize the status of approximately 30,000 undocumented migrants in the country.
In addition, bilateral agreements on "labor inflow" have been made with Third World countries such as Egypt, Vietnam, Bangladesh, Georgia, India, and Moldova.
