Germany: Nurse Sentenced to Life for Killing Patients with Injections

A 44-year-old nurse has been sentenced to life imprisonment for killing 10 patients at a hospital in Würselen, near Aachen. The court found the man guilty of murder and attempted murder.
According to the verdict, between December 2023 and May 2024, the nurse administered lethal doses of sedatives and painkillers to terminally ill patients in the hospital’s palliative care unit.
Prosecutors stated that the nurse gave the injections during night shifts to reduce his workload and shorten patients’ lives. The defendant denied the accusations.
Authorities are also investigating several other suspicious incidents from his earlier medical career.
