Generation Z (born between 1997 and 2012) has very different priorities in working life compared to previous generations. Growing up immersed in technology, their expectations are also higher.
They also dislike corporate facades, artificial communication, and work events held merely “for show.” Transparency, freedom, and digital compatibility are much more important to them.
It is said that Gen Z does not always follow traditional workplace rules and may struggle in professional relationships.
Here are the top three things Gen Z dislikes at work:
1. RIGID WORKING HOURS AND MANDATORY OFFICE PRESENCE
They are not fond of the classic 9-to-6 schedule.
They prefer remote or flexible working arrangements.
They want to work with a “results over process” mindset.
2. COMMAND-AND-CONTROL MANAGEMENT STYLE
Instead of obeying without question, they seek explanation and meaning.
They dislike strict hierarchies and prefer collaborative environments.
They value receiving feedback and having their ideas heard.
3. MEANINGLESS JOBS AND NO ROOM FOR GROWTH
“Working only for a paycheck” is not enough for them.
They want to be involved in purposeful, meaningful work.
If they cannot grow or express themselves, they leave quickly.
Their motto is simple:
“If my career isn’t adding value to me, I won’t stay there.”
