Europe on Alert Over Potential Russian Attack

Europe is increasingly on alert over the possibility of Russian attacks, as a series of warnings and security measures from European leaders have raised questions about the nature and scale of the threat.

📌 Finnish President Alexander Stubb has urged the public to be mentally prepared for potential drone attacks and acts of sabotage.

Most recently, French President Emmanuel Macron, after holding an emergency meeting with political party leaders, said he had ordered plans to be drawn up to protect critical infrastructure and defense industry facilities in France against potential Russian threats.

Macron has also warned that Russian hybrid attacks targeting France and Europe are intensifying, and said France would respond to such actions.

What is a hybrid attack?

The terms hybrid warfare and hybrid attacks are generally used to describe non-traditional methods designed to put pressure on an adversary and destabilize a country. These can include cyberattacks, sabotage and disinformation campaigns, among other forms of activity.

Such operations are often carried out through proxy actors. Russia, however, has consistently denied involvement in such attacks despite what Western governments describe as mounting evidence linking Russian actors to them.
