Cyclist Fatalities in Germany Reach Alarming Levels

In 2023, of the 2,839 people who died in traffic accidents, 446 were cyclists. This means that one in every six traffic fatalities was a cyclist.
The increase in cycling fatalities is attributed to factors such as the growing popularity of cycling in traffic, insufficient infrastructure, and drivers' lack of attention. Particularly in the winter months, accidents, deaths, and injuries rise due to icy roads and adverse weather conditions.
