A massive trove of stolen data was briefly accessible via unsecured databases before being locked down—but researchers have so far been unable to identify who owns the databases.

From social media giants like Facebook and Instagram, to email services like Gmail, developer platforms like GitHub, messaging apps like Telegram, and even VPN services—many platforms may have been affected by this breach.

Experts are urging users to:

  • Check their accounts immediately,

  • Change all passwords without delay,

  • Regularly monitor accounts for suspicious activity,

  • Verify whether their identity has been compromised using trusted breach-checking tools.

Given that approximately 5.5 billion people around the world have internet access, this leak could impact multiple accounts per person.
