Passengers from outside the EU face difficult procedures at airports

Warnings have been issued that British passengers could face waiting times of up to four hours at passport control at European airports during the summer months.

Experts in the aviation sector say the digital border application is already causing “major delays and disruptions.”

The long-delayed EU digital border system requires “third-country nationals,” including United Kingdom passport holders, to provide fingerprints and facial biometrics when crossing the Schengen Area border for the first time. For subsequent entries and exits, a single set of biometric data will be sufficient.
