Police in Nuremberg uncovered fraud in language exams for foreigners, detaining two suspects from Bavaria and North Rhine-Westphalia.
A 39-year-old individual from Nuremberg allegedly sent people who spoke German fluently as “stand-ins” to German language exams using forged documents. Those who passed the exams then received genuine certificates, which could later be submitted to authorities for residence permit or citizenship applications.
It is reported that clients paid between €2,500 and €6,000 per exam.
Searches carried out in Nuremberg and Hamm led to the seizure of numerous data storage devices, forged residence permits and language exam documents, as well as large amounts of cash and a small quantity of other items.
